Town of Snow Hill seeks well-qualified candidates for Town Manager position. The Town is a small historic community located along the Pocomoke River on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
The Town has a work force of 23 full-time employees and 2 part-time employees, providing municipal services including police, public works and parks, water and wastewater services, and administrative services. The Town Manager oversees Town staff, and a budget of approximately $3.3 million (general fund and water/sewer). The Town Manager is appointed by the Mayor and three-member Town Council.
The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded background with an understanding of municipal government operations covering many of the following areas: supervisory management, infrastructure maintenance and development, financial management and budgeting, general knowledge of planning and land development, as well as creating collaborative initiatives with the State and County to promote economic development and plan for capital improvement projects. Superior communication and leadership skills must be accompanied by a successful employment history that highlights excellent customer service and a proven ability to work with stakeholders including residents, employees, and the local business community. Five to ten years working in local government management is highly desired. A bachelor’s degree is preferred in public administration or related field.

The results for the polls are in for the General Election.
The polls show Gary Weber for Mayor; Melisa Weidner for Central Council; and LaToya Purnell for Western Council.
There are 31 absentee ballots to be counted, as well as 19 provisional ballots that have to be reviewed.
Official results will be posted once all absentee and provisional ballots have been counted.

Town Manager Announces Retirement
SNOW HILL – Snow Hill Town Manager, Kelly Pruitt announced her retirement, effective May 31, 2019. After 30+ years in the public sector, Mrs. Pruitt will be taking a private sector position and looks forward to spending more time with her family and traveling.
Mrs. Pruitt began employment with the Town of Snow Hill in 1988 and worked her way to advancement. On November 14, 2000, Mrs. Pruitt was appointed Town Manager by the Mayor and Town Council and led the town to many significant accomplishments.
Advertising to fill the position will be done next week and a successful candidate shall be chosen by the elected officials after being sworn in at the June town meeting.
Mayor Stephen Mathews stated that the town and Council appreciated Mrs. Pruitt’s service to the community and wish her the best in her new job.
ATTENTION CITIZENS – MEETING AUDIO
We have had some people request either video or live streaming of the meetings. While we are researching this possibility, we wanted to provide a means for you to hear the meetings.
On March 11, 2019, we began posting the audio from the Mayor and Council meetings on the Town website. Unfortunately, the audio quality is not great, but we hope that you can still benefit from listening.
We encourage everyone to attend the Mayor and Council meetings. Work Sessions are the first and last Tuesday of each month at 4:30pm. Town Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm. Meetings are held at the Train Station on Belt Street.
